Inactive user account email

Question: I've received an email saying my account is going to be deactivated. If this is a legitimate email, what should I do?

Inactive account notification

  • It's always good practice to check with ADA first if you're not sure an email sent to you is legitimate or not. For more information protecting yourself (and your business) for cyber threats go to: Learn the basics | Cyber.gov.au
  • The email you received is an auto generated inactive account notification email from the National Digital Library (NDL) Discovery Service (OVID) and is not a spam or phishing email.
  • Any registered user of the NDL who has not logged into the service for 365 days will receive a warning email 7 days prior to deletion of their account. To avoid account deletion, the email prompts you to log into the NDL. If you do not log in before the date indicated, your account will be deleted including any saved search, alerts, bookmarks and other preferences. As indicated in the email, the account, including preferences cannot be recovered. Therefore, you are encouraged to log in the NDL to avoid your account being deleted.
  • If by chance you don't log in before the deletion date and you wish to access the NDL after the account has been deleted, you can log back into the NDL (following prompts for account set up) and a new account will be created. Remember if you take this path no saved searches, etc will appear from the deleted account.

Library support

Question: How do I get library support?

  • General library enquiries and requests for technical support should be logged via the support form on the National Digital Library's (NDL) homepage (bottom left).
  • Support Guides provide you with information on the features of and how to use the different services provided by the NDL.
  • Subject Guides, a curated list of resources, are available on a range of dental topics (note guides are constantly being developed)

Library URL (link)

Question: What is the correct URL (website link) to the National Digital Library?

  • There are two links which will take you to the National Digital Library:
  • You can use either link and will be taken to the same location
  • ada.org.au/library redirects to ada.ovidds.com
  • ovidds or OVID Discovery Service is the platform which brings all library resources together in one location and is your one stop search service.

Therapeutic Guidelines

Question: How do I access an online version of the Oral and Dental Therapeutic Guidelines

  • At this point in time, for ADA members the online version is not provided as part of membership, nor available electronically via the National Digital Library.
  • Members receive a complimentary copy when they first join the ADA and can order an additional copy by completing the order form. If you have any queries email membership@ada.org.au or call +61 2 9906 4412
  • For purchase of the electronic Therapeutic Guidelines complete an online enquiry form, email sales@tg.org.au or call +61 3 9329 1566.
